Our Interest Groups
Interest Groups have always been the lifeblood of u3a Sutton Bridge, and they reflect the knowledge, skills and aspirations of our members. The lifeblood of the u3a is now flowing again.
Over the years since the start of u3a Sutton Bridge there has been a steady increase in groups starting up. The range and subjects of these groups depends on members who have a skill or interest which they would enjoy sharing with others, or simply a desire to learn something new.
It is in the groups that friendships are forged as members follow their shared interests. You don't need to be an expert in something to start a group! Enthusiasm is more important, and the direction taken is generated by the wishes and aims of group members.
It's this easy to join a u3a Sutton Bridge group:
- Option 1 - just come along to one of our regular monthly General Meetings (see Events), and you will be able to enrol in person there and then.
- Option 2 - find an Interest Group you are interested in from the list below, click on the name of that group, and you will be taken to a dedicated group page. Click on the name of the Group Leader, and if that Group Leader is on email, a blank form will open for you to complete your message or enquiry. If it doesn't, try options 1 or 3.
Please ensure you know your Membership Number when joining groups.
Most groups meet during the day, but each group decides when, where and how often to meet.
Larger groups meet in a hired room or community space, smaller groups might meet in members' homes. Outdoor groups meet ... you've guessed it!
Please note that visitors to u3a Sutton Bridge are not permitted to enrol in any Interest Group nor attend an Interest Group Meeting until their membership fee is paid and a membership number issued.
We are always seeking to expand the range of subjects we offer. Anyone can lead a group, and no experience is required, just enthusiasm. So if you have a particular interest and think you might like to form a group of like-minded members, please discuss it informally with the Group Leaders Co-ordinators or any member of the Committee. They will give you all the advice you need. You can make a difference by helping to get a new group off the ground, and we want you to have fun doing it!
A polite request - If you are a member of a group, but find you are unable to attend one of the meetings, or if you no longer wish to be part of that particular group, PLEASE inform your Group Leader as soon as possible. It's the polite thing to do.
